Building the Future of Creativity: FSC at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair
Creativity thrives when it’s nurtured and shared. At a time when young people face shrinking opportunities in the arts, we’re working to open doors. Through our Creative For Good programme and partnership with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, we’re championing the emerging talent that’s vital for our industry’s future, and keeping creativity visible and valued.
Creativity has never been more important – and never more under threat. Across the UK, creative subjects are being squeezed out of the school curriculum, public funding for the arts is shrinking, and young people are left with fewer opportunities to discover, explore and pursue creative careers. At the very moment when society needs imagination and innovation to tackle its biggest challenges, we risk cutting off the pipeline of talent that makes the creative industries thrive.
At Future Strategy Club (FSC), we believe that creativity is a national resource – one that fuels both cultural and economic prosperity. Our industry depends on new talent entering the field, and our communities benefit when creative opportunities are open and accessible to all. Without that next generation of artists, designers, performers and makers, agencies like FSC would have no future workforce. This is why supporting creativity at its roots is a central part of our Creative For Good programme.
“We want to help build the conditions where emerging creatives can not only showcase their work but also begin to build sustainable careers in the industry.”
The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair (WCPF) represents exactly the kind of creative ecosystem we want to see flourish. It’s a fair that does things differently. Half of the artworks on its walls are by artists without gallery representation – a radical stance in a market that often feels closed to newcomers. By opening up space for emerging talent, WCPF ensures that fresh voices are seen, valued and supported. Its location is equally symbolic: Woolwich, an area undergoing rapid regeneration, is becoming a cultural hub in its own right. The fair plays a vital role in this transformation, embedding art into the community and making it part of everyday life.
Our sponsorship of WCPF is therefore more than a partnership; it’s a statement. We want to help build the conditions where emerging creatives can not only showcase their work but also begin to build sustainable careers in the industry. That means giving visibility to artists who might otherwise struggle for exposure, and connecting them to audiences, collectors and collaborators who can help them grow.
At the Fair, our presence takes shape in the FSC Lounge – a space that by day hosts free talks with artists, curators and print innovators, and by night transforms into an intimate venue for live music, DJs and drinks. It’s designed to blur boundaries: between artist and audience, between exhibition and community, between creativity as commerce and creativity as culture. It reflects our conviction that the arts are not a luxury for the few, but a shared resource that enriches everyone.
Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair is an example of how the creative industries can reinvent themselves – inclusive, accessible, and rooted in place. By supporting it, FSC is helping to keep the doors of creativity open, so that young people can see a future in the arts and so that our industry continues to be replenished with new talent.
Because when creativity is under attack, the answer is not to retreat. It’s to double down on our support, amplify emerging voices, and build platforms that allow imagination to flourish.
